Address: 2nd Floor, Beith Building, 7 Commerce Crescent West, Sandton 2144
Services/Products: Film, processing, scanning, printing
Comments: When Beith went under this company bought some of their equipment and opened RGB Pixellab a floor above were Beith used to be. The people are nice, but the service isn’t great and my order is never ready on time. However, this is the only place I know of where you can process 120 film (medium format film). They also stock most films including 120 slide film and will order it for you if they don’t have. Its quite pricey but you may not have another choice. If processing and scanning negs, make sure to provide your own cd or usb stick as they will charge you about R20 less. I find their printing quite pricey and will usually use other options. They do give student discounts with presentation of a valid student card.

Address: Shop U11A, Rosebank Mews, 173 Oxford Road, Rosebank, Johannesburg
Services/Products: Film, darkroom equipment (paper and chemicals), new and used camera equipment, camera accessories
Comments: I often buy film, paper and darkroom equipment from here and the occasional camera accessory, but I find their new camera prices quite high. You can often get the same camera for cheaper at somewhere like Game or Dion. Good service and great knowledge centre. The staff is always happy to help and provide advice.

Comments: What a wonderful elderly man, and probably one of the only people in Johannesburg to source old school equipment from. He operates out of his home and has the most amazing collection of things.

Address: 11 Charles Crescent, Eastgate Ext 4, Sandton 2148
Comments: Mostly prints for large commercial companies but happy to help individuals too. The print on various papers (including duratran) at a very reasonable rate and do various forms of mounting, such as Perspex mounting. The have worked with a few known South African artists so are open to sitting with you and discussing the colour etc of your print and to doing test strips. They even let me watch all the machines at work. I highly recommend using this company for printing due to their service and reasonable prices. The only down side is that they do not print on cotton papers.

Comments: I have only used them once to service my DSLR and they were fine. It is certainly more affordable then sending to suppliers if your product is out of warranty.
