Silkscreening for Beginners

Printmaker and professional artist Zwelethu Machepha will be holding a silkscreening workshop at Prints On Paper for those wanting to be introduced to the technique. The workshop will cover everything from preparing the screen and papers, to using the printing press, exposing and allowing for an opportunity to play and explore.

When: Sat 27th and Sun 28th September from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Where: Prints On Paper Studios (Directions can be found here)
Cost: R 450(Prints On Paper Members) and R 550 (Non-Members). This includes all materials and a light lunch will be served.

What to bring: Your concept drawings, fine liners, watercolours, charcoal, paintbrushes, basic stationary and NT cutter

Advanced Silkscreening

In a continuation of silkscreening workshops, Zwelethu Machepha will be holding an advanced silkscreening workshop in which the lessons of the previous week are taken to a completely new level over a month. Expect a higher level of precision and critical feedback!

When: 11th, 18th, and 25th October and 1st Nov from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Where: Prints On Paper Studios (Directions can be found here)
Cost: R 800 (Prints On Paper Members) and R 900 (Non-Members). This includes all materials and a light lunch will be served.

Machepha took art classes at JAG and, in 2010, joined Artist Proof Studio to study printmaking. Machepha has participated in a number of shows, including: ‘Right on The Rim’; ‘Legends of Culture and Active Citizenship - A Journey through Screen-printing; Coming of Age’ (curated by Tiffany Mentoor, Johannesburg Art Gallery 2012).
