Night Owls Skill Speed Meet
With access to online resources like YouTube tutorials and chatrooms, it’s fairly easy to learn something via the internet, but we felt that there is always something missing, and that is human interaction. A Night Owls Skill Speed Meet could happen anywhere: we have hosted in a museum, a maker space, a coffee shop and a bar. The beauty of creativity is that the magic can happen anywhere. It’s an event to come together over a beverage, meet new people and get inspired.
The setup is as follows: the attendees sit across from each other on two rows of chairs. The attendee’s are then prompted to talk about what they do as a job, hobby or any other extracurricular activity. The best part for us is to see how easily people connect when they speak about something they enjoy doing, there is absolutely zero social awkwardness. Even if you might end up knowing the person across from you, you discover something new about them.
After 3 minutes we ask the attendee’s to move one chair over. Attendees are encouraged to bring the equipment they use to practise their said skill with them We've even had someone bring a ukulele!
