More about Joburg Sketchers:
Joburg Sketchers is coordinated by Cathy Gatland and operates under the guidelines of the international Urban Sketchers movement, of which Cathy is the Johannesburg correspondent. Urban Sketchers is a nonprofit organisation whose mission as a nonprofit is to raise the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world with drawings.

The Joburg branch has a small group of dedicated sketchers of all ages, stages and drawing styles who are inspired by Joburg streets, buildings, people and activities.

They sketch from direct observation and share sketches online, the group is looking to grow.So if you want to have fun and meet new people, get involved .

The Manifesto that Joburg  Sketchers follows:
  • We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
  • Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.
  • Our drawings are a record of time and place.
  • We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
  • We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
  • We support each other and draw together.
  • We share our drawings online.
  • We show the world, one drawing at a time
