Assemblage invites young, enthusiastic and ambitious individuals interested in being part of the Johannesburg visual arts community to apply for its internship programme.
Assemblage seeks an intern for assistance with the overall administration of and day to day running of Assemblage and the newly opened Newtown Artist Run Centre and Studios (NewARC). The intern will gain a huge amount of experience in art administration, gain insight into the workings of the Johannesburg visual arts industry and become a part of a vibrant artistic community and network. The intern will work closely with the Assemblage trustees and will be trained to understand the processes needed to run a non-profit organisation such as Assemblage and an artist-run centre (NewARC).

The internship is for a period of 9 months starting in April 2013 and ending in December 2013. The intern will be required to commit to either 4 mornings or 4 afternoons a week working with Assemblage at the NewARC Studios (this is negotiable). The intern will receive a stipend of R3000/month.

Assemblage is a non-profit organisation which intends for the visual arts community of Johannesburg to connect, to share ideas, information and advice and to collaborate. It provides an inclusive forum where visual art students, graduates and professionals can network. Assemblage encourages production, participation, professionalism and the sharing of resources, knowledge and skills. Through an informative website, peer mentoring groups, workshops, group exhibitions, artist studios and other collaborative projects, it hopes to contribute and promote artistic innovation, collaboration and a proactive vibrancy within Johannesburg.
